Open House – Photos

Thank you to everyone who came to our open house. We loved spending the evening with all of you and showing you our new location. A special Thanks goes to the amazing vendors, friends, and family that helped us put on the open house.

Photography – Mark Broadway Photography

Mark & his Wife, Jeannie, helped capture our space with their photography. We have known the Broadways for a very long time and love every chance we get to work with them from Wedding Photos to Seniors to Pageant Headshots. They are amazing people and amazing at what they do.

Catering – KC Kreative Catering

Kim & DeeDee go way back. DeeDee has been styling Kim’s daughter’s hair and makeup for many years from pageants all the way to her wedding day. When Kim started her new catering business, we were so excited to share her delicious food with all of our friends.

Videography – Steve Frank Films

We first met Steve and his family on South Alice when they shot one of our Brides. It has been a great working friendship ever since. Steve and his sons are great at what they do and come highly recommended to capture all your special moments on film.

Flowers – Miles of Flowers

We also have known Jeffery for many, many years before he opened his own floral business, Miles of Flowers. Talk about talented – Jeffery and Jonathan are amazing at what they do. Their arrangements and decorations are stunning and their services come highly recommended.

Our Friends and Family are our Support System! We thank you for your help, love, and support.

Without Jeanne & Kirk Sanders we would not have the beautiful space you see now. Kirk is an amazing carpenter and helped customize the cabin to our needs. We love and thank you both for the many hours and long nights you spent with us working to get The Cabin ready.

Happy Birthday Jett & Raley

Surprise Birthday Parties are the Best Birthday Parties!

Raley Madison Pasibe and Jett Clayton thought they were going to a fashion show and were surprised to find out it was actually their joint Birthday Party! Cindi K McDaniel, owner of Studio EnVogue Photography, captured the evening full of dancing, snapchating, laughter, and celebration.

Jett and Raley grew up across the street from each other — they were like the kool aide kid commercial — always running the neighborhood. They have been friends since elementary school and their Mothers have been friends since high school.

How does one plan an awesome surprise b-day party?

Surprise parties are increasing in popularity. So much so that sometimes guests assume a party is a surprise even when it isn’t! This can often lead to confusion so whether you’re hosting a surprise birthday party or a surprise bridal shower, here are some tips to get you started so you make sure the surprise stays a surprise!

  • Make sure to tell people on the invitation that the event is a surprise party.
  • Specify the start time on your invitation and make it clear that this is the time that you want guests to arrive—it should be at least 30 minutes before you expect the guest of honor to arrive.
  • Get an accomplice to plan a “fake” activity with the guest of honor. This not only throws them off the scent, but now you know that the honoree will be available that day to have their surprise sprung. You can even let a few other guests in on the fake plans to help make it more realistic.
  • Make sure the guest of honor is doing an activity in which they are dressed appropriately for the surprise party. Ultimately, the party is for them so you want them to feel their best infront of their friends and family.
  • Enjoy and have fun. You can’t control everyone so someone might slip up but if you follow the steps above you’ll minimize the chances of having the surprise ruined.

4 Reasons to have a Small Wedding

1. Budget

The biggest obstacle for newly engaged couples is the wedding budget. How much do we spend? How much can we afford to spend? So many details go into wedding planning and those details start to add up. According to The Knot, the average cost of a wedding has risen to $31, 000!

Planning a small wedding allows you to save that money you were going to spend. Or you could use it towards a fantastic honeymoon, or investing it into your family by using it for a downpayment on a house.

2. Fewer Guests

One way to cut your budget in half is cut your guest list in half. Do you really need your uncles – brothers – wives – niece at your wedding? Probably not. Weddings are about sharing an important time in your life with those you are closest to. Also, fewer guests mean you can splurge on more gourmet meal items since its fewer mouths to feed. And we know its always about the food. Especially in the south..

3. Intimate Environment

A smaller budget and fewer guest means you can downsize your location. Intimate weddings are becoming more and more popular. Have you ever been to a wedding where you barely got any time to speak with the bride and groom to congratulate them? A small intimate space allows for more facetime with those you truly care about and want to celebrate your new life together with..

4. Less Stress

We all know weddings are great, but we also know they can be very stressful and overwhelming. A smaller guest list and the intimate venue also means less chaos and commotion to deal with. You can focus on the details that mean the most to you because you don’t have to fill a big venue full of “stuff” and people.

Having a smaller wedding can be a very smart idea and can also help you save time and money to focus on other planning aspects that have more importance to you! We hope this blog truly helped you consider whether having a small wedding is right for you. Should you need a small event venue for your wedding, rehearsal, engagement party we hope that you will keep us in mind

Top Party Themes in 2019

Everyone loves to celebrate birthdays, babies and more! Prediction is that 2019 is going to be the year of movie-themed parties! As a movie buff, I’m excited that birthday parties are going to be centered around the movie characters we love and superheroes we adore. Keep Scrolling to see parties that may be making their debut in 2019.

1. Mary Poppins

The long awaited Mary Poppins Returns movie debuted in December 2018. This sweet theme will be a popular one. “A spoonful of sugar” as she says.

2. Dubmo Gender Reveal

Gender reveal parties are a fun way to announce if your new baby is a boy or girl. In 2019, the movie Dumbo will hit theaters and what perfect timing to use such a precious and cute theme for your party.

3. Frozen

Let it go, Let it go! This theme won’t be going anywhere with the release of Frozen 2 coming to theaters in 2019!

4. LumberJacks!

Throw a Lumberjack Themed Party in 2019! Throw in some buffalo plaid details and you have the perfect Buffalo Plaid Lumberjack Party. The first order of business is food and drinks. Lumberjacks certainly work up an appetite! This may be one of our favorite themes in 2019.

5. The Roaring 20s

What better way to bring in 2020 than a Gatsby Themed New Year’s Party? Is it to early to start planning? This will be THE perfect theme for the New Year. A little party never killed nobody…. right Jack?

We hope to see you in 2019! Should you need a venue for an upcoming birthday,  gender reveal, rehearsal dinner,  business meeting or New Year’s Eve party, we hope you will remember us with Beaver Flats Cabin, Dothan’s Newest Small Event Venue.
